The “Media-Center” organises a media women's conference to promote and support political action

2020-04-15

To conclude the women's project in the municipalities, the “Media-Center” organised a content rich final conference last Saturday, which was attended by dozens of women and activists from local politics. The final programme, led by the Saja Abu Fna project focus, included many interesting and rich sections.

The meeting started with the opening of the journalist Kholoud Masalha, director of the “Media-Center”, who emphasized the importance of a media-center for the promotion and support of political work of women in general and local authorities in particular and thanked the German foundation "Hans Seidel" for the generous support of the project. Civil society empowers women in various fields and emphasises the media-centre's willingness to establish a close public link between society and its issues. It is interested in providing modern and cutting-edge media content that is consistent with innovation, keeps up with the times and is based on ethical professional rules.

This project aims to support women's political work, their right to leadership and partners at the local political level, and to strengthen the relationships of civil society institutions with women. Its first word as the first advocate for women's issues and the strengthening and enhancement of their presence at all levels and in social, political and public spheres. For despite all the discussions about women's political achievements, the diversity of their careers and their importance in leadership positions, we are still talking about the absence of half a community from our local authorities, as they are currently occupied. In our Arab countries in the Palestinian interior there are only 18 women. This is an indication of a situation that is unacceptable for the reality of women in political work, and it challenges us to better understand the composition of the immediate situation and to know the obstacles and their studies in order to create another reality in which the women and girls of our society take the lead.

The opening was followed by an enriching paragraph on dialogue, discussing the obstacles and challenges to increasing the presence and representation of women in local authorities and analysing the role and function of the media in this. In return, Dania Musalhah Shahbari supervised the moderation of the discussion, the moderation and several television programs active in social and technological initiatives together with each of the guests: the advocacy group of the NSA Association Against Violence, the activist Sawsan Toma Shaqhah, the activist Muhammad Khalayleh who is acceptable to Nassar and the media member Sheadah The Social and Political Mazin Nassar.

The outstanding segment of the conference was an inspiring platform for passionate and persevering women who were able to competently access different positions or experience work in different and unusual ways, to be socially and practically active and to be leaders in their fields of work in the various fields. They shared their different experiences and inspiring stories with the women audience, in which both the expert as well as the economic planning consultant Rim Khalaf, product manager of Microsoft Corporation, Rene Salama Sammour, activist and initiative Linda Salim, founder of the association "Shadi and I" and the initiative for the development of health of Arab women, who were treated with an expensive feature, participated.

In return, it set up a media centre to honour Ms Samira Azam for her commitment and political work and for fulfilling the women's list which she had led in the local elections for the village of Isfiya. Then there was an interesting and interesting lecture and intervention entitled "The Leading Woman", which was supervised by coach Iqbal Dahla Adawi.

Here, the “Media-Center” reaffirms its willingness to continue its work with women and to communicate with them, encouraging and socially activating them through future projects in this and other areas.
