End Impunity event - Turkey

November is the month for " " events. here is the event that will take place in Istanbul at 9 Nov. 2015

 

We will hold our International Day to End Impunity event with one-week delay –due to the general

election- rather than on 2 November as proclaimed by the United Nations.

Date: 9 November 2015

Time: 13:00 – 18:00

Istanbul Bilgi University santralistanbul Campus, Hall E1 – 301

 

The event comprises 3 forums, and 3 sessions of witness.

FORUMS: (10 minute presentations will be followed by 45 minute long Q&A sessions)

 Legislation, Execution, and Convention of the State.

 Non-state Actors and Social Structure

 Impunity and Justice

The sessions of witness will deal with about 15 examples of impunity. In the sessions various

examples of impunity will be introduced with a short video for each example. This will be followed

by (if still alive) the victim’s speech or (if not alive or unable to be present in person) one of his/her

relatives or lawyer’s speech.

Erol Önderoğlu (Journalist, witness: Impunity for attacks on media)

Eylem Karadağ (Witness: Impunity for police harassment. Police harassment and impunity during the Gezi unrest)

Fikret İlkiz (Lawyer, witness: Impunity via “Investigation permit issued by superintendent”)

İbrahim Kaboğlu (Prof. Dr., Marmara Uni., witness: Impunity in the case of violation of the Constitution –He will

participate via video)

Murat Çelikkan (Journalist, Forum: Examples of Impunity and struggles against impunity from around the world)
