I’lam publishing promo of “remove the sticker campaign”

2015-05-04

In conjunction with World Press Freedom Day, which falls on the third of May, I’lam Media Center published a promo of its campaign against self-repression under the title: remove the sticker and help others to remove theirs.
The campaign centers on the adoption of repression after an individual faces a process of repression in the home, school and public space.
The idea of the campaign stems from a desire to clarify that when somebody is brought up on concepts and values which are subject to social or political templates, these can limit their ability to express their opinions freely. With time, the person starts to place limits on their own freedom of expression, taking into account all the limitations that may be encountered and thus adopting the oppression and repression themselves – like a sticker that muzzles the mouth and limits freedom of expression.
The campaign has been implemented as part of the productions course  "filming and developing our rights". Marwa Slayeh, Shaima Taoon, Malak Hujirat and Fatima Hujirat took the initiative to write and implement the ideas. Filming and editing by Mohammed Shinawi directed by Rola Jammalyeh.
