Seminar on television reporting concludes in Nazareth

2014-05-22

A special session on media consolidation within the Palestinian community, in general, students , journalists and the media in particular , brought the “television reporting” workshop, which was run in collaboration with the Media Development Center - Birzeit University,  to a close last Friday.

The course, attended by 18 students and journalists, lasted for 5 weeks (30 academic hours), and was moderated by the well-known journalist Ziad Halabi.

The course focused on several topics including the main components of TV reporting; pre- and post-production work; conducting television interviews; how to stand in front of a camera; and writing for broadcast.

The participants produced four television reports dealing with several topics including: history of ancient Hotel Saint Gabriel in Nazareth; Kenafa gas canisters; tourism in Nazareth; and efforts to recruit young Christian into the army

Riyad Deis, TV Unit Coordinator and responsible for trainings at Birzeit’s Media Development Center, said that he was “attentive of the need to work alongside I’lam in its efforts to professionalize and empower journalists from the PCI given the absence of Arabic educational institutions in the field. What distinguishes this collaboration,” he explained, “is communication and networking from both sides of the green line.”
